Deer Valley Resort in Park City is set to undergo a massive expansion, with the first portion of the new Deer Valley East Village opening a year earlier than planned. This expansion will more than double the size of the resort, with three lifts set to open during the upcoming ski season. These lifts will provide access to 20 new runs, totaling 316 skiable acres of terrain. Additionally, 500 parking spaces will be available for visitors to the resort.

One of the new chairlifts, the Keetley Express, will be Deer Valley’s first six-person chairlift with a bubble. This lift is scheduled to open in December, providing direct access from the East Village into the existing resort area. The other two chairlifts, Hoodoo Express and Aurora, will service new beginner-level ski trails and provide return access into the East Village. Once fully open, this expansion will add 3,700 skiable acres to Deer Valley, making it the fourth largest ski area in the U.S. The expansion will feature a total of 16 chairlifts and a 10-passenger gondola.

In addition to the new lifts and ski trails, the East Village expansion will include the construction of 800 hotel rooms, 1,700 residential units, and 250,000 square feet of commercial space. This expansion is part of a larger $300 million capital investment program by Deer Valley owner Alterra Mountain Company, covering 16 ski areas across North America. Other resorts, such as Crystal Mountain, Mammoth Mountain, Big Bear Mountain Resort, Sugarbush, and Stratton, will also benefit from this investment program.

With the addition of new lifts, ski trails, and amenities, the Deer Valley expansion promises to enhance the overall skier experience. The new chairlifts and increased skiable acres will provide visitors with more options for exploration and enjoyment. Furthermore, the addition of hotel rooms and residential units will make it easier for guests to access the resort and enjoy extended stays.

Overall, the expansion of Deer Valley Resort’s East Village signifies an exciting new chapter in the resort’s history. With increased skiable acres, new lifts, and plans for additional amenities, Deer Valley is poised to become one of the premier destinations for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. As the resort continues to grow and evolve, visitors can look forward to an even more memorable and enjoyable experience on the slopes.
